LEADING ANALYST FIRM VALIDATES MIRAPOINT APPROACH PROVIDING MESSAGING SOLUTIONS WITH INTEGRATED SECURITY
White Paper Cites IT Savings, Productivity, Reliability as Key Benefits of Enterprise Messaging Systems with Built-In Security Features
Sunnyvale, Calif., March 12, 2007– Mirapoint, the secure messaging expert, today announced that leading analyst firm IDC validates the approach taken by Mirapoint in providing a messaging appliance solution with integrated security features. In the IDC white paper sponsored by Mirapoint, “Messaging Solutions with ‘Baked-In’ Security Delivers for IT and Messaging Users,”IDC states that demands on messaging systems due to messaging user productivity needs, corporate governance and compliance requirements, and threats from outside and inside organizations keep IT departments on their toes, constantly looking for better ways to deliver secure, reliable, rich messaging at the lowest cost. Integrated secure messaging solutions can help IT achieve these goals in a cost-effective way.
“Having an integration of messaging with security in a single appliance is key in meeting the needs of enterprises by providing the building blocks for constructing an effective and secure messaging infrastructure," said Mark Levitt, vice president for Collaborative Computing and the Enterprise Workplace at IDC.
IDC's white paper describes several ways in which integrated secure messaging solutions are different. First, nearly all of the messaging and security features can be designed on the same platform to work optimally together without the risk of incompatibilities. Second, one set of system administration and policy controls can be used by IT to ensure smooth and consistent messaging operations protected by a wide variety of threats. Finally, specific features such as having an integrated directory for managing all messaging and security information and features can mean higher performance and security by avoiding having to do recipient lookups against centralized corporate directories.
“The validation from IDC regarding our messaging and security solutions is very gratifying,” said Barry Ariko, CEO, Mirapoint. “Our focus has always been to deliver solutions for our customers that meet the challenges they face in keeping their messaging applications available and protected in this era of spam overload, virus outbreaks and regulatory compliance.”
According to IDC’s 4Q06 AppStats survey of 228 U.S. enterprises, 70 percent of those who responded to the survey expect email investments to remain constant over the next 12 months, with 21 percent forecasting an increase in email spending. Of the respondents who were surveyed, 80 percent had a continued preference for on-premise licensed email solutions versus outsourced or managed services approaches.
